      King County Refuses to Test Staff For COVID

      King County claims they are taking emergency actions to ensure the safety of everyone at our correctional facilities, based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as Public Health – Seattle & King County.  But are they really.

      King County Jail Sees Impact of COVID Crisis

      The new outbreak came to light after an inmate at the King County Correctional Facility in Seattle reported flulike symptoms on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2020. This person had been at the jail for more than a month and tested negative upon initial entry. As soon as this case was reported on Sunday, everybody housed within the same part of the jail was tested, despite being asymptomatic.

      When did jails become acceptable mental healthcare facilities?

      This is a great article that talks about people who suffer from mental illness. The article refers to California jails but this is happening here in Washington and in the King County Jail system. More needs to be done to help these people. Budget cuts to the jail will only affect their treatment.
